"I'm not gonna run away, I never go back on my word! That's my nindÅ: my ninja way!"
- Naruto Uzumaki
WELCOME to the expansive and wonderful world of the number one knuckle-headed shinobi, NARUTO!
In this thread, you can read about the show if you've never watched/read it (or just in case you want to reminisce) and give your opinions on what Naruto has done to change your perspective on anime, manga, or just your life in general.
Created by Masashi Kishimoto in 1997, Naruto quickly became one of the highest selling manga series in Japan and North America. With over 200 million manga copies in print, what is so hype about a ninja who wears orange and has blonde hair? Well, let's begin shall with a quick synopsis!
Burdened with being the Jinchuriki (Demon Container) of the Kyubi no Yoko (Nine Tailed Fox), Naruto Uzumaki's life is nothing but disappointment and alienation. Feeling outcasted by his classmates, other citizens, and even sometimes himself, Naruto Uzumaki goes through his adolescent years with one goal: to become Hokage (Fire Shadow), which is recognized as the highest ranking shinobi in Konohagakure no Sato (the Village Hidden in the Leaves).
With the help of his teammates, Sakura Haruno and Sasuke Uchiha, and his sensei, Kakashi Hatake, Naruto must prove to Konoha that he should never be underestimated; by facing challenges and strong enemies, can Naruto really obtain his dream? Only time can tell.
In addition to the original Naruto series, that chronicles his journey from 12-13 years old, Kishimoto released the highly acclaimed continuation, Naruto Shippuden, which ended in November 2014 (Manga, not anime). This series chronicles Naruto's teenage/young adult years (post 14-16) where his real challenge and training begins.
If you like action, romance, horror, mystery, and drama, Naruto is definitely a great series to look into. The characters are loved and hated, dynamic in all, and the story (regardless of the many fillers) is riveting in it's own respect. Check it out! You can find the manga anywhere nowadays online (I recommend MangaPanda.com) and definitely can check out the anime (original at least) on Netflix, Crunchyroll, and Hulu Plus and many other streaming websites.
Please, comment your thoughts on one of anime's longest entries!
